FAQs

Installation & Tools

Q: What tools are required to install a SNAP! Connector?
A: Only standard open-end or adjustable wrenches are needed. There's no requirement for specialized crimping tools or dies.

Q: How do I know when the connector is properly installed?
A: The SNAP! Connector features a snap-off nut design. As you tighten the nut, it compresses the connector onto the wire. Once optimal compression is achieved, the nut snaps off, indicating a secure connection.

Q: Can I visually inspect the wire insertion before compression?
A: Yes. The connector body has window slots that allow you to verify proper wire insertion before tightening.

Performance & Reliability

Q: How does the pull-out strength of SNAP! Connectors compare to traditional connectors?
A: SNAP! Connectors are engineered to exceed UL pull-out strength requirements. For instance, while UL requires a pull-out strength of 180 lbs for #2 AWG, SNAP! Connectors achieve an average of 750 lbs.

Q: Are SNAP! Connectors UL listed?
A: Yes. They are UL listed under UL 486A-486B (Certificate number 20190122, File E28698).

Q: Do SNAP! Connectors offer better conductivity?
A: Absolutely. The design ensures even compression around the wire, resulting in improved conductivity compared to conventional connectors.

Compatibility & Options

Q: What wire sizes are compatible with SNAP! Connectors?
A: SNAP! Connectors are compatible with Class B copper wires in sizes: #2 AWG, 1/0 AWG, 2/0 AWG, 3/0 AWG, 4/0 AWG, 250 MCM, 350 MCM, and 500 MCM.

Q: Are there different configurations available?
A: Yes. They come in one-hole lugs (KTL series), two-hole NEMA lugs (KTL-N series), and in-line splices (KTC series).

Q: Can SNAP! Connectors be used in high-voltage applications?
A: While they are UL listed at 600V, they are suitable for applications up to 35kV when properly installed and insulated.

Additional Features

Q: What are SNAP+ Kits?
A: SNAP+ Kits include a SNAP! Connector and a cold-shrink insulation sleeve. The EPDM rubber sleeve provides superior insulation and is resistant to UV, ozone, and water.

Q: How do I install the cold-shrink sleeve in the SNAP+ Kit?
A: Position the sleeve over the connector and pull the ripcord. The sleeve will automatically shrink to fit, providing a secure and insulated connection.

Q: Are there any visual indicators post-installation?
A: Yes. The absence of the snap-off nut and the shape of the installed connector provide a clear visual indication that the connection is complete.
